What is Parent Brain Coaching?
Your Brain Didn’t Break—It Adapted.
Here’s How We Work With It.
You know that moment when you walk into a room and completely forget why you’re there? Or when you can’t remember a word you use every single day? Or when you’re trying to focus at work but your brain feels like it’s running through mud?
If you’re nodding along, you’re in the right place.
Parent Brain Coaching helps you understand what’s actually happening with your overwhelm and how your brain is adapting to parenthood—then gives you practical strategies to work with those changes instead of fighting against them.

This Isn’t What You Think It Is

It’s Not Therapy
Therapy is powerful work that heals past experiences and treats clinical mental health conditions. If you’re experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety, or other perinatal mental health challenges, professional support is essential—and I’ll always encourage you to seek it.
Parent Brain Coaching is different. It’s action-oriented support for where you are right now and where you want to go. Research shows coaching can be just as effective as therapy for supporting life transitions and achieving specific goals.
Think of it this way: Therapy repairs the foundation. Coaching helps you design your vision for the space.

It’s Not Parent Coaching
Parent coaching supports you in how to parent—sleep training, milestones, discipline techniques, and managing tantrums.
Parent Brain Coaching focuses on you: how your brain is changing, how to manage cognitive overload, how to maintain your focus and sense of self during one of life’s most profound changes. We help you work with your adapting brain so you can show up the way you want to—as a parent, professional, and person.

It’s Not Couples-Focused Mental Load Coaching
Traditional mental load coaching (like Fair Play) makes invisible household labor visible and helps partners redistribute tasks between them. That’s valuable relationship work.
Parent Brain Coaching addresses mental load from a different angle: your individual adaptation to managing and carrying it. We work on executive function strategies, communication skills, self-advocacy, and boundary-setting—building systems, skills, and tools that work with your new reality.
The mental load is part of the picture, but we focus on your internal experience: the identity shifts, the values clarification, the getting unstuck. We help you navigate this season of life, not just negotiate the division of labor.
What’s Really Happening (The Science Part)
Here’s what research shows: during pregnancy and early parenthood, your brain undergoes significant structural and functional changes. Brain imaging studies reveal these adaptations persist up to two years postpartum.
But here’s the thing: these aren’t deficits. They’re adaptations.

Your brain is rewiring to:
- Enhance pattern recognition and threat detection
- Improve emotional processing and regulation
- Support complex multitasking demands
- Strengthen social cognition
The problem? While your brain is upgrading, you might experience:
- Difficulty finding familiar words
- Trouble maintaining focus on complex tasks
- Forgetting why you walked into a room
- Feeling overwhelmed by routine decisions

It’s frustrating. It’s real. And it’s not personal failure—it’s neurology.
